The Best Ways to Lose Weight and Eat Healthy

By Blaise Iannaci

One of the best ways to lose weight is by keeping a Food Journal handy at all times and carrying it with you. By recording all you eat and drink on a daily basis, you may be very surprised to find you have picked up on some very unhealthy eating habits.

When you start your food journal, keep it simple. Commit to recording for at least a month, be honest with yourself and jot down everything you consume.

Write down everything you eat and drink, including the amount you consumed of each item, the time of day and the activity at that time. When you review this journal it will give you a pretty good idea of your eating habits and what triggers them.

Some of the best ways to lose weight is by making small changes in your lifestyle and also in your eating habits. Use this journal to pinpoint the problems and it will very likely show you what you have to do to make the changes needed to help you achieve your goal.

If for example your journal shows you that you reach for comfort food or beverages while under stress, maybe it would be a good idea to eliminate the so called junk food or sweets you are in the habit of reaching for now and replace them with healthier food choices. Although we can control some of the stress in our life, there are many times we cannot control the stress and therefore substituting is the way to go.

Also, if you reach for food due to boredom, you can switch to a healthier type of food or better yet, get busy with a hobby or maybe do something to occupy yourself and keep your mind off of eating.

Your journal may also point out that you are not only eating too much of the wrong foods, but it may show that you are not eating at the proper time. It has been pointed out that we should eat 5 to 6 smaller meals per day. Remember to start with a good nutritious breakfast and then work in the other 5 meals which will include your lunch and dinner along with some healthy snacks in-between your meals. This increases your metabolism so it will not only burn the calories you consume, but will also burn any stored fat as well.

If you are looking for a good journal you can carry with you at all times, this journal allows you to record Exercise, Activity, Goals, Plans, Food, Water, Calories, Fat, and Carbs through the day:

I do hope you can see the benefits of keeping this journal and reviewing everything it contains while working toward your goal. It may show that the best ways to lose weight will be for you to make some slight changes in your eating habits, as well as your lifestyle as you know it now.

Don’t forget . . . major risk’s attributed to carrying too much weight can be Heart Disease, Stroke, Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, and Osteoarthritis.

Don’t Count the Ways to Lose Weight - Just Find the One for You!

By Blaise Iannaci

Isn’t this the Sixty Four Thousand dollar question! I will bet that every man, woman or child has posed this question themselves. I have asked myself this question on numerous occasions.

After this question pops into your head, the first thing most people do is research. Boy, let me tell you, I cannot count the ways to lose weight because there are so many. You start searching the net, reading the various magazines published on this subject, and maybe you have even been watching the ads on television. With all that is available to us, this could take hours. Well, if this is the circle you have been going through, I am sure you have come up with the same conclusion I have. There are various and many ways to lose weight. At this point all I am sure about is that your head is spinning, so why don’t you go ahead and start by picking one method. Remember it can always be changed if you find it does not suit you. Just keep trying until you find the one that does suit you.

It is always a good idea to check with your doctor before starting any program to make sure your plan is suitable.

After completing my research on the many ways to lose weight, I have found a common thread throughout. Any plan or program you undertake must include healthy eating habits, as well as a regular exercise regime.

Of the many ways to lose weight, you may want to start with the following to help you stay on the right path and to keep you motivated.

  • Set a Goal. Maybe you need to lose 30lbs. In order to avoid being discouraged, break this down into say 10lb increments and set a time limit to achieve this mini goal. After this has been reached, start on the next 10lb increment and so on. Write your goal down and post it so it is visible at all times.

  • Set up a Plan for both the Diet and Exercise program. Again, put this in writing. Record your progress in the plan and this will let you know if you need to make changes along the way in order to achieve your goal.

  • Be Realistic and Honest. Remember, the weight didn’t appear overnight. Therefore don’t expect to lose weight overnight. This is going to take time and effort on your part.

  • Modify the Plan if you find that you are not obtaining your goals and things are not working out as planned, please don’t give up. Go back to the research you did on the different ways to lose weight and try another approach. Eventually you will find the one that will work for you.

In closing, I would just like to say to keep your overall goal in mind at all times and continually work toward that goal. There is not a shortage of ways to lose weight and I will bet you can, and will, find the way in order for you can reach the ideal weight and fitness level you have in mind.

Don’t forget . . . major risk’s attributed to carrying too much weight can be Heart Disease, Stroke, Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, and Osteoarthritis.

It is always advisable to check with your physician before making any changes in your eating habits and activity levels to ensure they are acceptable. Best of Luck!

Don’t Wait . . . to Lose Weight!

By Blaise Iannaci

Have you ever gone to your doctor and been told “You have to lose weight”. I certainly have. If this has happened, it is really something to act upon and not to be ignored.

There are so many health benefits and reasons for us to heed this advice. Here are 3 areas of risk that come to the forefront of my mind, which we should avoid if at all possible.

  1. Heart Disease and Stroke - this is a major risk factor if we are carrying excess weight. This is the leading cause of death in both men and women in North America. Encompassed in this is High Blood Pressure, Blood Fats (cholesterol and triglycerides), Angina (chest pain) which is decreased oxygen to the heart.

Benefit - Did you know that if you lose weight by 5-10 percent, this can decrease your chance of developing heart disease or of having a stroke. It could also lower your blood pressure and the levels of blood fats that may exist already.

  2. Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2) - both types of diabetes are associated with long-term complications that can threaten your life, and it can certainly effect the quality of your life over time. Just some of the complication associated with this disease as it advances is the possibility of Eye, Kidney, and Heart Disease.

Benefit - If you were to lose weight and increase your activity level by doing more exercise, this would go a long way to help in controlling your blood sugar levels.

  3. Osteoarthritis - this is a joint disorder that could effect the knees, hips and also the lower back. The pain brought on by this condition can really restrict your mobility which will lead to further weight gain due to inactivity.

Benefits - If you were to lose weight in any amount (the more weight lost the better), it would go a long way in reducing the stress on your joints and would also improve the symptoms of this disorder.

I know there are many more problems associated with the excess weight we carry, but I just wanted to name a few. When you look at the overall picture, if we were to lose weight and become more active it would go a long way in improving our health and every day life.

If you do decide to follow your doctor’s advice “You have to lose weight” and start a weight loss and exercise program, please know that there are various ways to accomplish this goal in a healthy and natural way.
